About Me

Hi there, and thanks for dropping in.  My name is Penny Gordon.  Originally from regional NSW, I have lived in Canberra for 17 years.  A country girl at heart, our farm was at Chatsbury, an area between Goulburn and Taralga, thus the “ChatsburyGirl” name.  You can take the girl out of the country…

Something I really enjoy is card making and stamping.  I have only been doing it for 2 years, but have become quite addicted to it.  I love being able to personalise cards for the people I know, and it is also a creative outlet for me, something that has been sadly lacking for me in recent years.  Working behind a desk in I.T, there is limited scope (oops there’s I.T speak creeping in) for creativity.  I also love sharing and finding new ideas and techniques.

Sadly, there is one person I never got to make a card for, my Dad.  This site is dedicated to him, a special Chatsbury Lad.

This blog has been set up as part of my studies for WEB 101, a unit I am studying through Curtin University, and is part of my web presence.  Here, I will be posting my thoughts and experiences on card making and stamping, as well as the occasional photo of cards I have made.  But as I have found, life is not just about me…

Through the VodPod link, you can find a selection of stamping and card making videos that I have found through YouTube.  These videos have been created by some very talented and generous card makers: Alisa Tilsner, Tami White and Brandy MacKenzie.  The videos I have chosen are various techniques that can be used.  Alisa and Tami’s videos can also be found on their blogs.

Updated 17 June 2012:

Vodpod was bought out by Lockerz.  Consequently I have closed the account.  In it’s place I have linked to the videos on Pinterest.

Through the Flickr link, you can see more cards that I have made over the last couple of years.  I have also provided details on each card of the stamps, inks and accessories used, should you want to copy the card.  This album will be regularly added to, so I hope you will come back from time to time, to see what’s new.

  1. You have made some lovely cards Penny I see you love Stampin Up too

    • Hi Deb,
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, Stampin Up is a great range. I do use other stamps as well, but most of my stuff is SU.

Do you have a site with your cards? Would love to see them.

      Penny

  2. Thanks for all the information on your site Penny… You are truly passionate about this art form and the expression of your creativity. You have re-kindled in me an interest in card making again. I love to paint and I use to (many moon ago) main my own cards rather than buying off the shelve. I loved it and people loved it too as each card was unique and personal. My husband also got into it with me and he used to make the cut-outs by hand etc… It was fun… But then children cam along and the hussle and bussle of every day life and there just does not seem to be enough time… But after this course is finished, I will continue to watch your contributions and I will get inspired again…. All the best… Renata

    • Hi Renata, thank you for your kind words. I’m so pleased to hear that my site has had this effect on you. When I first started out, it was simply for the assignment. But it soon took on a life of it’s own. Please do keep in touch, and we can swap ideas. Kind regards, Penny
