Lilac Birthday

Thank you to everyone who commented on my Spellblog card.  It was such a thrill to have my name picked out, but I was scared that no-one would like my card.  I got such lovely feedback on it…thank you 🙂

It’s my niece’s birthday, so time for another card.  This time I’m back in my comfort zone 🙂

Nikki Birthday

Inks: Black StazOn, Spring Pansy VersaMagic
Cardstock:  White, SU Orchid Opulence (I think…it was a scrap in my scrap folder)
Stamps: Flourishes Lilac
Spellbinders: Labels 8 and Decorative Labels 8
Other: Chalks, Blending Pen, Dimensionals, Double sided tape, Purple Rhinestones

Nikki Birthday

I stamped the image with Black StazOn, and coloured with chalks.  I used the Blender Pen with the same shade of green I had coloured the leaf, to add emphasis to the leaf veins.  As soon as I saw this stamp, I had to buy it.  My home town of Goulburn is known as the Lilac City, it has an annual Lilac Festival in October.  Nikki’s favourite colour is purple, so it seemed appropriate to use this stamp.  Also, it is Goulburn’s 150th birthday next week, so another reason to use the lilac. 🙂

I cut the image out with Labels 8, and with the die still in place as a mask, sponged with Spring Pansy VersaMagic.  I am a new convert to using chalks for sponging (thanks Linda 🙂 ).  I have had some VersaMagic pads in my stash for a little while, but had only used them for some occasional stamping.

Using the Orchid Opulence cardstock (I really hope that is what it was…apologies if it wasn’t) I cut out a mat with the largest Decorative Labels 8 die.  I love having things co-ordinate, and these co-ordinate beautifully.

I adhered the image to the mat with dimensionals, and then mounted this to the card base with double sided tape.  Prior to mounting, I had sponged the edges of the card base with Spring Pansy VersaMagic.

I added some purple rhinestones to the top and bottom to finish off the card.

Happy birthday Nikki, I hope you’ve had a great day.

Bye for now,

Penny
