Gatefold card

Hi all,

As promised, here is the second card from the class I taught.  I had four different cards, all made with papers from Kaisercraft’s Flora Delights Collection, and the ladies were able to choose which one they wanted to make.  As well as showing them how to make a double gatefold card, I wanted to also demonstrate different ways they could “dress up” the cards.  I took in samples using other papers, I will post pictures in a separate post.

Flora Delight Gatefold Card

Inks:  Onyx Black Versafine, Mowed Lawn Distress Inks, Lilac VersaColor, Scattered Straw Distress Ink
Cardstock:  White
Paper: Kaisercraft Flora Delight Collection “Enchanting” and “Vintage”
Stamps: Kaisercraft Flora Delight and The Lakehouse
Spellbinders: Standard Circle Small, A-2 Fancy Postage Stamps,
Other: Double sided tape, dimensionals, Kaiser Flora Delight Collectables

Using “Enchanting” from the Kaisercraft Flora Delight collection, I cut a strip 30cm X 14cm.  Along the 30 cm side, I scored at 5cm, 10 cm, 20cm and 25 cm.

On each of the 14cm sides, I placed a mark at 7cm and cut diagonally from the mark to the 10 cm fold on one side, and the 20cm fold on the other.    I flipped the offcuts, and adhered them to the bottom of the card.

Double Gatefold Card inside I cut a piece of white cardstock, and sponged the edges with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink, before adhering inside the card.

I stamped the smile sentiment from the Kaisercraft Flora Delight set, cut it out with a die from the Standard Circle Small set, and with the die as a mask, sponged with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.  I used Lilac VersaColor to colour the inner over.  I mounted this on one side of the gatefold using dimensionals.

I made some other gatefold cards that I took in to the class as samples, the photo below used “Enchanting” from the Kaisercraft Flora Delight collection, but using the reverse side to what I used above.  The stamp was from the Kaiiercraft Flora Delight set, cut it out with a die from the Standard Circle Small set, and with the die as a mask, sponged with Lilac VersaColor Ink.  The inner circle was cut out with a smaller die from the set.

I adhered the larger circle on side, and the small circle on the other, when closed they “lock” into each other, which keeps the card closed.

Using the A-2 Fancy Postage Stamps die, I cut some white cardstock, and adhered this inside the card.

For the next two cards, I used “Vintage” from the Kaisercraft Flora Delight collection.

For this card, I didn’t use the offcuts on the bottom of the card.  I adhered an embellishment from the Kaiser Flora Delight Collectables on the front with dimensionals.  One of the ladies in the class, Bridget, who made this card, cut out the centre of the embellishment to create the “lock” effect that I had created with the card above.

Using a stamp from the Kaisercraft The Lakeside, I stamped a border down each side of white cardstock with Lilac Versacolor, and adhered this inside the card.

For this card, I used the reverse of the paper, and used the cutoffs.  I adhered an embellishment from the Kaiser Flora Delight Collectables on the front with dimensionals.

For the insert for this card, I used a die from Labels One, to match in with the shape of the embellishment on the front.  Whilst the cardstock was still in the die, I sponged with Scattered Straw Distress Ink.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to put all of these into the one post.

Bye for now,

Penny
